When I first walked into the gym in May of 2014, I had no idea how much it would impact my life, but here I am, a decade of doing this kind of training and still going! Having never played a sport before, I loved the environment and what I got out of the workouts. I gained so much confidence, strength, and courage to try new things.

I love a workout with handstand walks and overhead squats, but I cherry pick the days with burpees and the bike! Over the years I have made so many great friends that I consider family. I truly love the people, the coaches, and everything that LoCo has to offer. We are just one big family. As I transitioned into the coaching role, I realized that as an educator, I thoroughly enjoyed educating and coaching others and watching them succeed.

When I’m not coaching or organizing the gym, you can find me at one of my kids sporting events, hanging with my husband, singing on my churches worship team or near the beach! If you are looking for a reason to try classes, let this be your answer! Staying comfortable is not the way to grow. Get out of your own way and try hard things. Practice makes permanent and scaling does not equal failing!

I began my journey in 2018. I really enjoy doing burpees but do not like running anything more than 100 meters! I love the people and great environment at LoCo. It's a great place to train.

When I’m not working out, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter and reading a good book. You can also find me at BGC serving my church family. Advice for anyone thinking about joining LoCo, you will have fun and find good company here.

As a former D1 Volleyball player, I thoroughly enjoyed LoCo classes when I first started. The community is fantastic but what I enjoy most is working out with a group of like-minded people that push each other. I do not enjoy overhead squats. Give me all the squat cleans!

I enjoy spending time with my family and serving at my church. For those that are new, stick with it! There is nothing wrong with modifying a workout, so it meets your needs!

I've been doing functional training since September of 2014. I love Olympic lifting especially the Clean & Jerk. My least favorite movement is doing deadlifts. My favorite thing about LoCo Depot is the people. Outside of the gym, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a volunteer firefighter for Tri-Valley and an engineer at Honda. My advice to new people is to just keep working to better yourself.

Certifications: USAW-L1 Specialty areas: Olympic lifting technique, higher level gymnastic movements, accountability

I started doing functional fitness training in May of 2016. Since then, I've invested in distance running and am your "go-to" person for all things running! I love any workout that involves running, but also enjoy cleans. However, I do not enjoy overhead squats. I really love the friendly atmosphere at LoCo and that everyone is here to help each other get healthy. Everyone is treated the same and held to the same standard.

Outside of the gym and running, I love to be with my family and friends. I enjoy doing activities that keep me moving like golf, volleyball, pickleball and backflips at the Martin’s Pond! I also enjoy traveling and experiencing new things. For the new peeps, just keep showing up. You will get frustrated but remember the people you see doing things you strive to match, were in your shoes when they started too! Don’t give up.

In January of 2019 I decided to give LoCo a try. I was hooked. The community, camaraderie and welcoming atmosphere sold me. There isn't much spare time between work, coaching at the gym, sitting in two boards, coaching youth football, basketball, and baseball.

When I do have time, I love practicing Jiu Jitsu with Legado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school, fishing, hunting, playing with my kids, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy hanging out with friends when time permits and experiencing new communities and adventures. I love to run, hike, and do physical activity as well. I really enjoy doing muscle ups or power cleans. I had to work hard to get proficient at both and enjoy striving to improve both movements. Overhead squats are a movement that is challenging for me however, it is a goal of mine to get better at it. For those unsure, just join! You will find your group of like-minded people you resonate with, make new friends, and gain overall better health. I would also say, start slowly and listen to your coaches. Many of us have been doing CrossFit for 5+ years as athletes and some as coaches as well. We are here to help you achieve your goals and set realistic goals, timelines, and expectations.

My functional training journey began in December of 2013, when I attended Saturday community classes. I fell in love with the group atmosphere and functional movements that prepare you for everyday life. My favorite movement would be the hang clean, but I do not enjoy toes to bar or deadlift.

My life outside of LoCo is spent outdoors, with or without my family. I have a bachelor’s in criminal justice and I work with Hardin County youth. My advice to anyone starting out is that EVERYONE had had a Day 1. Everyone scales movements. If you’re willing to leave your ego at the door and listen to your coaches to learn how to perform movements safely, there is NOTHING to fear!

My wife and I started attending LoCo classes just before COVID. We loved it so much; we built our own home gym so we could continue. I love that LoCo is willing to serve ALL athletes and help them meet their fitness goals. I love to compete and I'm probably the only person who enjoys doing burpees over the bar! My kryptonite is handstand walking, but I'm working at it!

In my spare time, I build cabinets, do custom builds and woodworking. I also enjoy spending time hiking and camping with my wife and daughters. If you were like me, just walk in the door! Let the Coaches do the rest! You won’t regret it.

I absolutely love the dedication to evolution that happens at LoCo. I started in January 2020, just prior to COVID. I was hooked and spent a lot of time working out in my home gym. It feels great to be back at LoCo.

When I’m not on the platform here or at home, I enjoy gardening, rucking, hiking, reading and poetry. My favorite, and least favorite movement is the jerk. It can be frustrating, but the reward is incredible. My advice to newbies is that you just need to be patient and give yourself grace!

The moment I walked in the doors at LoCo I loved the community of people. No matter what class time I attended, I could feel the love and could get an amazing workout in. This is primarily the reason that I am now in the best shape of my life.

I have only been doing functional training since the fall of 2021 but felt so inspired to further my education and obtain my coaching certification. You won’t find me excited to ride the Echo bike, but I’m all smiles when it’s time to deadlift.

Outside of LoCo, I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors, homeschooling my littles, gardening and listening to health podcasts. I advise everyone, old and new, to Scale to Live! Don’t start out thinking you should be able to do all the prescribed movements and weights. It’s going to take time and that’s OK. Spend time getting the technique down first and the rest will follow.

Certifications: CF-L1, CF-Judges Course, CF-Running Course, Occupational Therapist (OTR/L)
Specialty areas: Coaching the aging athlete, technique driven, scaling

A few years ago, my family and I moved to Bellefontaine in July of 2021. We quickly fell in love with LoCo because it is accessibility to anyone's fitness level. Outside of the gym, you might find me officiating basketball games, cycling on the road, spending time with my family or running my lawn care business.

I despise double unders but enjoy any workout that has box jumps! I advise anyone starting out to be a sponge when you receive coaching. Focus on what you can control and achieve today. Rinse and repeat daily! Success lies in the journey.

In September of 2014, I won a free beginner class, and I haven't stopped. I love a good workout with kettle bell swings or wall balls but I might avoid doing overhead squats and snatches from time to time!

What I love most about LoCo is the welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is always trying to make the gym a better place for members. There is so much room for activities! When I’m not working out, I enjoy watching my boys sporting events, hiking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my family. For anyone considering LoCo, understand that you will not be able to do everything that others are doing. They couldn’t when they started either! Continue to show up for yourself and give yourself time to learn the movements and improve technique. It takes a long time to feel confident and comfortable, but we all started from ground zero. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and they continue to work on them. It’s an ongoing process for everyone!
